Eight Simplot Potato Business Grower Groups have been established across Tasmania in Deloraine, Legerwood, Scottsdale, West Pine, Burnie, Sassafras, Cressy and a seed growers group near Riana.  Each Grower Group is supported by a Simplot field officer. The Grower Group project is co-funded by Horticulture Australia Ltd (HAL) and Simplot.  The project identifies growers’ research and business need, finds ways to access appropriate support, and then delivers the support to the growers in a way that suits the growers as much as possible. Workshops have also been delivered covering seed potato production and potato harvesting.  This has facilitated improved communication between all parts of the product chain.
